Paul Beaumont

During the period 2008-2019 Paul was involved in the development and delivery of professional learning programmes for science teachers and technicians at the Scottish Schools Education Research Centre (SSERC) and was appointed as Director of Professional Learning in 2016. In September 2019, Paul was awarded the 2019 Convener’s Award from the General Teaching Council for Scotland for his work in respect of professional learning.  In May 2022 Paul was awarded the inaugural SSERC Honorary Fellowship in recognition of an exceptional contribution to STEM education and training in Scotland. Prior to his appointment at SSERC and following some 20 years of working in the Higher Education sector, Paul was Director of Science and Plants for Schools (SAPS) at Homerton College, Cambridge between 2001 and 2008.  More recently Paul was appointed as a STEM Outreach Officer at Forth Valley College and this post involves the development and delivery of STEM-based workshops for primary school pupils.
